BRIAN PURCHAS
Brian
Purchas is a Chartered Engineer with Masters Degree in Business Management
and 30 years experience in the development, financing, specification,
engineering, permitting, project management, site construction and
commissioning of power stations in the U.K. and overseas.
He spent 11 years with Ewbank Preece, a major UK Engineering Consultancy as a site manager and later project manager for numerous power generation projects in the UK, Middle East and South East Asia.
Subsequently, he joined Edison Mission Energy in 1993, as Engineering Manager. In this capacity he was closely involved in several significant generation projects in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, including the Doga Enerji 180MW gas-fired cogeneration project in Turkey and the 512MW Isab Energy IGCC project in Sicily.
He was also a Director of Derwent Cogeneration Ltd, which owns the Derwent CCGT Cogeneration Project (214MW electrical) supplying 200 tons per hour of high-pressure steam to Courtaulds Chemicals in Derby, England. He was part of the team developing a 400 MW CCGT Project in Aragon, Northern Spain.
In 2000 Brian left Edison Mission and subsequently acted as Covanta Europe's Technical Adviser for activities in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Greece, including the management of Technical. Permitting and Environmental aspects of the El Gorguel Project.
He is a UK national and holds a BSc degree in Mechancial Engineering from the University of Nottingham and is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and holds a Masters Degree in Project Management from the Cranfield School of Management.
